Tiling got styling with Douglas Jones’ Shape Shifter Series
One thing always hold true when it comes to home- and office design, and that is the “wow” factor.
We use our eyes to affiliate particular places and styles with certain work, objects or even people. How we style our homes or our office buildings will always leave an impression on any person. Have you ever wandered into the lobby of a prestige hotel and caught yourself gawking at the beautiful design and layout? It fascinates me how spruced up a reception, office and room could be by just what the designer chose to put on the walls. Simplicity is often a winner when you have extravagant walls. You may look at a plain white washed wall with pretty decorative paintings, and then you walk into the same lobby and your impressions would differ immensely. You like both but which do you love? It is what you appreciate about the two styles and it is this appreciation that has me very excited about an upcoming product by Douglas Jones.
I have recently seen a new series of décor tiles released by Dune which is now available at Douglas Jones, called Shape Shifters, which has captured me completely. These décor tiles literally stand out from the rest of what interior decorators have to offer from the current season. The series on offer includes plain black and white tiles as well as 3 different variations of 3D Décor tiles in white gloss, white matt and black.
I am by no measure an interior designer but I must admit to a love for art. Looking at the shape shifter series in catalogue pictures was like looking at contemporary art. Much like seeing Lady Gaga’s music video for the first time, I could not quite grasp which way the tiles were facing.
Tiling and painting of walls can often make a space seem a little dull at times especially with neutral colours, however the Shape Shifter décor tiles give a room that awe-inspiring feeling of sophistication and clean modern design. This kind of tile would work well in a room where you don’t necessarily want paintings or other decorations covering the walls. It leaves the room feeling open, modern and cool. The Shape Shifter Series would work well with a classical design as well and I have seen that it ties the room together perfectly especially with simple clean flooring.
